The last Leg !!

So the last leg eh, well we certainly felt this in our legs after the last  few days efforts, even with the wind assisting, it is still hard work .
We only had the 90 miles to conquer today to get to our final destination of Lowestoft,  clearly the best way to start this challenge was to go off the in the wrong direction , that always helps!!.
We quickly realised this and waved a second goodbye to the ever faithful support crew as we cycled back by them as they were loading the car ...
This leg took us through quiet villages for the greater part, so quiet in fact that there was a distinct lack of coffee shops!!!, just lots of quietly very wealthy areas , you could tell this by the houses we were passing. What do these people do for a living to get these?. There was a punch in the air when wepassed the county sign of Suffolk that was a welcome sight.
As we were in touch with our support team via a cracking app called “find my kids”!, we were never far from a call mentioning we were off route, gone wrong, turn down here, go down there so it meant that they could keep accurate positions on us to make sure they weren’t caught out shopping,  plus it meant they could look forward to where to divert us and in this instance in the middle of absolutely nowhere they tracked down and directed us to cafe that catered totally for cyclists that we would never have found ourselves, well done girls.

The miles drifted by and we swept through some fantastic lanes and took racing lines through the Suffolk lanes at some fairly decent speeds, it dawned on us we were actually nearly there. We started to see signs for our final destination, yippee .

We got to the outskirts of Lowestoft around 5.45pm, the traffic of course heavy, but not for us cyclists...we managed to catch up with the girls as they were caught in the evening rush hour.
Now you would think that things like Lands End or John O Groats or Ness Point ( this is the country’s most eastern point in Lowestoft ), would be quite set up for tourists, well depending on your interpretation of that statement you could argue that there are things like coffee shops at both Lands end and John O Groats, but let me tell you there is nothing in Lowestoft  the glamour of the country’s most easterly point is a slab of stone ( see pictures), and is set behind a sea well at the back of an industrial estate that is very poorly signposted, not a burger van or Costa in sight!!!!, not daunted by this as you can see we laid our bikes on the ground by the marker

and took the photos, and as you can also see, Chris and I thought that’s that then, we don’t need the bikes anymore !!!!
We did it though 6 days, 483 miles , more stats that we know you can’t wait to read will follow.
Thanks to the Helen and Karen our great support crew withoutwhom this trip would have been almost impossible for us to acheive and to us THE OLDER FARTS, for ticking another box we have now done End to Enand Coast to Coast.

What next.......
