Training
In preparation of this latest adventure the boys have been putting in the miles and finding some very big hills to practice on.
On a weekend away to Bude it was decided that it would be a good idea for them to be dropped off at Lyme Regis in Dorset and for them to ride from there to Crediton in Devon. This became a nightmare for the boys! Having cycled 1000 miles to John O'Groats with no punctures Chris managed to obtain 3 in less than 20 miles and the backup crew ( the wives following in the comfy Honda CRV ) setting off to find extra supplies that were desperately needed
The next day did not fair any better for the boys, the plan was to ride from Crediton to Bude. Even at the start, the wind was blowing the rain came down and the back roads of Devon ran with rivers of red clay waters. Very soon into the journey Chris's gears decided to play up and then he got another puncture. That was it the bikes were loaded onto the car and all headed to Bude where afternoon tea awaited along with the rest of a lovely weekend.
The boys were not to be put off, training resumed after Chris's bike had had an overhaul. The countryside of West Sussex was explored, trips to Hampshire, Isle of White and even a trip to Brighton and many carbohydrates consumed along the way to help them up the hills!
The start day is nearly upon them so all we do is wish them well.

ReplyDeleteJet propelled but soggy I guess, still it could be worse but I can't see how just at the moment....bear with! No still can't. Hope this makes the page.
